Colva beach gained popularity with the surge in tourism in Goa. Few years back Goa Colva was a simple village housing the fishing community. The tourist who poured in, enchanted by the beauty of Colva beach, made their own arrangements of stay, as in, they made makeshift houses and holidayed on the beach.
But now the scenario has undergone a drastic change and Goal Colva is the main hub of tourism in Goa. The beach is now lined with hotels and guesthouses. All efforts have been made to woo the tourists.
But if you look hard, you will still see traces of the fishing community. Fishing boats are often lined up in rows as the fishermen come back after a day's trip into the sea. They are easy going and fun-loving people and you can befriend them within minutes…who knows if you persuade them, they may even take you out with them the next time they go fishing.
The rush of tourists, hawkers, children are all concentrated at one end of Goa Colva, but if you manage to reach the other end of Colva beach, then you will suddenly find yourself all alone with just the sea for the company. Just sit there on the beach and look at the vast sea majestically and gently enjoying the sun.
To reach Goa, you can avail the frequent bus services or hire a taxi or a bike.
